Tired of replacing dead trees and shrubs?
The Doctor is in.
I am a lifelong gardener, horticulturalist, and tree climber, certified as an arborist by the International Society of Arboriculture in 2012, and licensed by the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture as a landscape pesticide applicator since 2013.
It’s simple, but true: I love caring for landscapes, and in particular, pruning trees and shrubs. Great pruning, along with thoughtful insect and disease control and fertility management, helps unlock the aesthetic and utilitarian potential of residential landscapes like nothing else. I love walking away from a property leaving everything looking 100% better than when I came, knowing that the work we did that day is the just the beginning of the benefits as the plants will respond with long-term growth that produces a stronger structure, healthier foliage, and much improved appearance, year after year.
In the past, I worked for large tree companies, but left because their business models were built on scale and fast profitability, and did not allow me the time I wanted to get to know my clients and their landscapes and give them the consistent attention they deserved.
The Tree Doctor is fully owner-operated; I am present at some point on most all jobs to supervise or perform the work myself. I usually work by myself or with a small crew of one or two helpers. I am flexible and efficient, especially at smaller jobs and detail work that bigger companies might overstaff with unskilled labor and heavy equipment.
I make regular communication with my clients a centerpiece of my work, first because landscapes are dynamic and I often find surprises I need to discuss, and second because discussion helps me understand your values, priorities, and budget and therefore better serve your interests.
When the time comes for pest and disease control, I practice Integrated Pest Management (IPM) and incorporate cultural solutions and organic methods whenever possible, minimizing the use of stronger chemicals. I have achieved great results in the past with pruning, root excavations, fertilization, and mulching, and often when trees and shrubs are consistently well-cared for in other respects insect and disease problems become far less common.
Working with me can bring you the peace of mind that comes from knowing your trees and shrubs are being well cared for, sustainably and efficiently, without you having to look over anyone’s shoulder. Or, if you like to be actively involved, I can clearly discuss with you what is wrong or right with your plants, what should stay and what should go, what to plant and where, which trees aren’t safe and how to make them so, et cetera.
I am working on a short list of long-term clients to become my close partners in care of their landscapes, whether their partnership be silent or active. If you think I am the right arborist for you and your property, please call me today.
