Planting

Trees and shrubs correctly planted under the supervision of a certified arborist:

• good species choice for region

• appropriate site on property

• good nursery stock hand selected by arborist

• burlap/twine/cage fully removed

• circling roots pruned

• soil deeply tilled in large planting area more than twice the size of root ball

• tree planted at correct depth

• tree staked for support and fenced for deer protection as necessary

• tree watered it after planting

• optional soil amendments as necessary: fertilizer, compost, mulch
